POLISH SOCIAL SUPPORT SERVICES (PSSS)
Polish Social Support Services (PSSS) is one of the programs run by the Polish Federation, funded by the Commonwealth Government, through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).
PSSS provides transport service to doctors’ appointments, transport for shopping, transport to polish social groups (Polish Active Seniors Groups run by Federation), to Polish Seniors Clubs etc.
For further information – please contact the Polish Federation office.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Meeting the mobility needs of older people is critical to ensuring they do not become socially excluded. Adequate and appropriate transport options enable older people to continue to be active participants in their communities, to access services, and to maintain social connections. Given access to adequate transport options, older people are also better able to maintain their independence, and to remain in their own homes.
Polish Social Support Services (PSSS) program aims to address the need of Polish Seniors still living independently in their homes by helping them to attend social activities, get to doctors’ appointments, do their shopping etc.
PSSS program also includes coordination of volunteers and the provision of administrative support for the Polish Link with Seniors Clubs. Carers & Seniors Information Session are also part of PSSS program.
The Federation cooperates with other organisations (Ethnic Link, Access to Home Care, Councils etc.) both receiving and sending referrals as each organisations provides services of a different character.
OUR VOLUNTEERS
At present we have a total of 26 volunteers involved in the program, 22 of whom provide regular transport services (mainly two-way, mostly on weekdays) to medical appointments and social activities such as Seniors Clubs’ lunches and shopping.
All volunteers are of Polish background and Polish speaking.
INTERESTED OR NEED OUR SUPPORT
In order to become a client of the PSSS program, please contact us personally or through a family member, close friend or another organisation.
Client assessment is required before you can start using our services. The better we know our clients, the better we can allocate the resources and deliver our services to a broader range of Polish seniors.
Someone will contact you to arrange the date and time for the meeting.
SERVICE FEES
Clients pay a small contribution towards the cost of transport. If you would like more information, please contact our office.
